What a Winter!!

What a strange winter we're having here in Southeast Texas!  We can go years without seeing hardly any kind of frozen precipitation and during the last 2 1/2 weeks, we've had 3 days of a combination sleet/snow/freezing rain.  It was pretty funny to see the entire area almost shut down because of a little sleet on the roads, but probably a good thing.  Before they closed the bridges and overpasses there were a lot of wrecks because most people here are just not accustomed to driving in such conditions.

The poor birds looked pretty miserable!

We didn't have snow here so we drove up to the lake where we keep our trailer so we could get a few snow pictures.  They had a couple of inches up there.

 Snow in the campground.

No camping this time.

Back at home - just a few icicles left.

Sweet little mockingbird trying to stay warm.

More of something frozen again today!

Wish we could have had a good snow fall here but
winter's not over yet!  Maybe this will be our year!

We might have to make a winter trip up to K.C. to see Jill and Jason.  There's plenty of snow up there and I don't think it's going away any time soon!

Crazy winter for so many folks.... We have had extreme cold temps (even as low as minus 10)--but we have had less snow this winter than we ever get... It's just been weird for all...

Great photos. I will post some bird photos tomorrow.
Hugs,
Betsy

I think everyone is having a strange weather. Since this is our first winter here we don't have other winters to compare. The locals say they always get a lot of snow, but not these below zero temperatures.
I've enjoyed the winter with the snow, but I am looking forward to spring. : )
Enjoyed looking at your photos.

wow- yall definitely got more accumulation than we did! We had another half day "ice day" here today. Schools closed all day - apparently just because it's cold. The roads were fine. Better safe than sorry though, i guess.

This winter has to be the coldest across the country!!!
Here in WV we are used to the snow but this winter like you many places just aren't prepared to deal with the snow. My daughter lives in Virginia near the coast and they rarely get snow but they had seven inches and she was off work for two days. The roads impassable. Hope it's warmer there now. Love that little mockingbird!

Maybe your prayers will be answered with this next big one. We, in the north, have had our fill.

I sure hope your ice is gone by now and you're getting better weather. Poor birdies!
